We serve Manhattan from our Long Island City shop by collecting your vehicle. We send a tow truck to pick the car up wherever it is in Manhattan, bring it to the shop for the body work, and tow it back to you when it is finished.
The damage we see on Manhattan cars is rarely the result of a highway crash. It is the garage attendant catching a pillar, the side-swipe on a narrow one-way street, the wing mirror taken off by a passing truck, and the long scrape down a door from squeezing into a tight curbside space. Most of it is low-speed, cosmetic, and infuriating.
We handle exactly that kind of work: dent removal, panel and bumper repair, scratch and scuff correction, and color matching that stands up in daylight rather than only under shop lights. For heavier structural damage we have the equipment to measure and straighten properly, and we will walk you through what is repairable and what should be replaced.
Because so much Manhattan damage happens while the car is parked and unattended, we are used to working with insurers on claims where there is no other driver to exchange details with. Bring the car over the Queensboro Bridge or through the Queens-Midtown Tunnel and we will give you a written estimate before any work starts.
We can help you

We have been repairing bodywork at this location since 1991, and a large share of what comes through the shop now arrives from Manhattan. That has shaped what we are set up to do. The typical job is not a highway wreck. It is a car that has been living on the island and collecting damage a panel at a time.
A good deal of that work is on European marques. Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes and Porsche are common on Manhattan streets and in Manhattan garages, and they are unforgiving to repair badly. Multi-stage metallics and pearl finishes will show a poor blend in daylight even when the panel gaps are perfect, which is why we match color by measurement rather than by eye and check the result outside the booth.
The other half of the job is knowing what sits behind the panel. Modern bumper covers conceal parking sensors, radar units and impact absorbers; doors carry side-impact sensors; windshields carry the camera that several driver-assistance systems depend on. Work that was purely cosmetic a decade ago now routinely requires recalibration afterwards, and a shop that cannot recalibrate will hand the car back with a system quietly out of specification.
We would rather tell you a repair needs more than it appears to at estimate stage than discover it halfway through.
Manhattan body damage is overwhelmingly low-speed and parking-related: garage pillars, tight curbside spaces, wing mirrors clipped by passing traffic, and doors caught on narrow one-way streets. Very little of it happens at speed.
That changes how it should be repaired. Modern bumper covers hide sensors, brackets and absorbers, so a scuff that looks purely cosmetic can involve real work underneath. We strip and assess the area before quoting so there are no surprises once the job starts.
Because much of this damage happens while the car is parked and unattended, we are used to handling claims where there is no third party to exchange details with.

Most people find a body shop at the worst possible moment, which is exactly when it is hardest to judge one. A few things are worth knowing before you need us.
The first is practical: we are close. The Queens-Midtown Tunnel and the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge both put you here in minutes, and unlike most Manhattan shops we have the space to keep a car while it is worked on rather than juggling it between lifts.
The second is that a lot of Manhattan damage has no other driver attached to it. Cars get hit while parked, clipped by delivery vans, and scraped by garage attendants, and the owner is left making a claim with nobody to exchange details with. We deal with insurers on that basis regularly and can handle the adjuster directly if you would rather not.
The third is that we will tell you when a repair is not worth doing. On an older car, a scrape that is not going to spread is sometimes better left alone.
We are proud to say that we have trained and experienced personnel ready to cover for different problems that you get to experience on the road. We have mechanics that can inspect and assess the extent of the damage that your vehicle incurred. Cosmetic damage is worth addressing sooner than most owners do, and not only for appearance. A scratch through the clear coat exposes primer and then bare metal, and New York road salt turns that into corrosion within a season or two. What starts as a parking scuff becomes rust repair if it is left through a winter.

Weather Related Damage
One of the most common reasons why your car’s body give up is due to the fact that it is dealing with the elements. When your car deals with dust, rain, the hot sun, and the unforgiving weather, you can expect to see damage on your paint. You may even see signs of rust in some parts of the car.
Of course, this is easier said than done. Here are some of the typeOne of the most effective means of fixing weather related problems is by sanding and repainting the area that is affected. But what if rust already made the body in bad shape? That’s when it becomes a bit tricky. The autobody experts will have to cut the affected area and replace it with a new metal. The metal will then be shaped in order to look new.

Scratches on a car
A minor problem that usually becomes a favorite reason to visit an autobody shop is when you are dealing with scratches. Sometimes, scratches are simply inevitable. Though it may not affect the overall function of your car, scratches can become an eye sore to your vehicle. Computer matched auto painting may be necessary in some cases especially if it involves huge scratches.

Dents
Dealing with dents can be different from one another. There are dents wherein the paint is not even affected during the accident. For these scenarios, it simply involves tapping the dent from the backside and the car will be good as new. On the other hand, if it also involves some scratches, it may involve repainting. In some occasions though, the entire part that has been affected needs to be replaced by a new one.

Collision Damage
A lot of times, you find yourself in an accident. Now, once you find your car damaged, it is crucial that you get your car to us in order to get it to work again. There are damages that not only include dents. There are instances when parts of the car will also be damaged. With the help of a computer aided machine, the frame will be straightened in order to restore the factory back to its pre-damaged state.
It is important that even after the collision, the car is back according to factory’s specifications. It is also imperative to check internal parts that have been damaged severely. It is important that the car is going to operate safe when you use it on the road. With experienced mechanics, it is possible to ensure the safety and the functionality of the vehicle. We have a special team dedicated to collision repair.

Bodywork on a New York car deteriorates on two separate clocks. One is sudden: the impact, the scrape, the door opened into your wing. The other is slow, and it is the one owners underestimate.
Road salt is the reason. Any place where paint has been broken becomes a starting point once salt reaches bare metal, and a Manhattan winter provides months of it. A stone chip on the hood, a scuffed sill from a curb, a scratch along a door from a tight parking space. All of them are cosmetic in December and structural by the second spring. Caught early it is a paint repair; left alone it becomes rust repair.
We handle both ends of that, and we will tell you honestly which one you are dealing with.
We handle both major and minor damage. Most Manhattan work is the minor end (a scraped door, a cracked bumper cover, a mirror taken off in traffic), and we treat each on its merits rather than pushing every job toward a full panel replacement.
Related damage often arrives with it. A side-swipe that takes out a mirror frequently cracks the glass too, which we handle as auto glass repair, and parking-lot dents where the paint is intact are usually better addressed with dent repair than conventional filling and respraying.
An older car in Manhattan ages differently from one kept in a driveway. Street parking means constant exposure to sun, road salt, sanitation trucks and the everyday contact of a crowded curb, and garage-kept cars trade that for pillar scrapes and door dings from attendants working in tight bays.
The result is bodywork that deteriorates in small increments rather than through any single event. Clear coat dulls, stone chips open up along the leading edge of the hood, and salt finds every place where paint has been broken. Left through a couple of New York winters that becomes rust repair, which is a far bigger job than sealing the chip would have been.
We would rather catch it at the paint stage. If you bring the car in for anything else, ask us to look over the panels while it is with us.
Parking damage is the single most common thing we see on Manhattan cars, and most of it never involves a moving vehicle. Doors opened carelessly, shopping carts, cyclists squeezing past, garage attendants working in bays built for smaller cars.
Where the paint is unbroken, paintless dent repair is usually the better answer: the dent is worked out from behind and the factory finish stays intact, which is quicker, cheaper, and preserves the original paint. Where the paint has been broken the panel needs filling and refinishing properly, because a sealed surface is what keeps salt out.
Bumpers take more damage than any other panel on a Manhattan car, which is unsurprising given how parking works here. Nudging in and out of a tight space is normal practice, and bumper covers are designed to absorb exactly that.
What has changed is what sits behind the cover. Parking sensors, radar for adaptive cruise and blind-spot monitoring, and the energy absorber itself are all mounted there, and a knock heavy enough to crack the cover is often heavy enough to displace one of them. We remove the cover and inspect before quoting rather than estimating from the outside, so you find out at the start whether a sensor needs recalibrating.
Where a bumper impact has done more than cosmetic damage, that becomes collision repair rather than a straightforward panel job.
Roof damage in Manhattan comes from places that surprise people. The most common by far is a low-clearance garage entrance: roof rails, aerials and even the roof skin itself catch on the header of an underground ramp, and it happens most often in a garage the driver uses every day.
The second is falling debris. Construction scaffolding, tree limbs after a storm, and objects from upper floors all land on roofs parked below them, and the resulting dents are frequently mistaken for hail damage repair.
Sunroof drains matter too. They block with city grit, back up, and stain the headliner from above, which looks like a leaking seal but is not. We check the drains before recommending any seal work.
Structural work is where an auto body shop either knows what it is doing or does real harm. The chassis controls how a vehicle deforms in an impact and how quickly the airbag sensors read that impact, so a structure repaired out of specification changes how the car protects its occupants, invisibly, and only in the one situation where it matters.
We measure against the manufacturer’s figures rather than judging alignment by eye, and we repair or replace to those figures. On older Manhattan cars there is an added complication: salt corrosion on structural members and mounting points can mean the metal being pulled is no longer sound. Straightening rusted structure is not a repair, and we will say so.
If a windshield has been broken in the same incident, it is worth handling as auto glass repair in the same visit. On cars with a forward-facing camera the glass has to be replaced and the camera recalibrated together.
Whether the damage is a serious collision or a scratch down one door, it is worth having someone look at it properly. Panel gaps, sensor positions and paint depth all have specifications, and matching them is what separates a repair you cannot see from one you always will.
We have been repairing vehicles in this part of New York since 1991, much of it for customers who drive in from Manhattan. Where the damage is confined to a shallow dent with the paint intact, dent repair is usually quicker and cheaper than a conventional repair, and we will say so rather than quoting for filler and respray.
Dents, scratches, bumper damage, paint imperfections, panel realignment and structural repair. For cars stored outdoors we also handle hail damage repair, which in the New York area tends to arrive all at once after a summer storm.
Yes. We restore collision-damaged vehicles including frame alignment, panel replacement and cosmetic finishing. We measure structural damage properly rather than judging it by eye.
Our aim is a repair you cannot pick out afterwards. We use computerized paint matching, which matters on the metallic and pearl finishes common on the luxury vehicles we see, and check the match in daylight rather than only under shop lighting.
Turnaround depends on the extent of the damage and parts availability. We will give you a realistic estimate after inspecting the vehicle, and tell you promptly if a back-ordered part is going to change it.
Yes. We work with most insurers and can deal with the adjuster directly. That is particularly useful for Manhattan claims where the car was parked and there is no other driver to exchange details with.
Body work needs a booth, a bench, and space to disassemble a vehicle properly, none ofwhich belongs on a Manhattan street. So rather than asking you to drive across the river andarrange your own way home, we collect the car.
For a car that is not driveable after a collision this is the only sensible route anyway. For one that still drives, it removes the part of the process people actually dislike, whichis being without transport in an unfamiliar part of the city.
Proper body work needs a spray booth with controlled airflow, a frame bench with anchoring, measuring equipment, and room to keep a disassembled vehicle safely while parts arrive.Manhattan floor space at that footprint is not realistic, and shops that squeeze into it tendto sublet the parts of the work that need the equipment.
Long Island City is a few minutes away through the Queens-Midtown Tunnel or over theQueensboro Bridge, so the collection adds very little to the timeline while the repair itselfis done in a facility built for it.
In New York you choose where your car is repaired. An insurer can recommend a shop in its network, but it cannot require you to use one.
| Question | Insurer's network shop | A shop you choose |
|---|---|---|
| Who picks it | Recommended by the insurer | You do |
| Who the shop has an agreement with | The insurer | You, the customer |
| Estimate | Often written under the insurer's program rules | Written by the shop and reviewed by the adjuster |
| Hidden damage found later | Handled within the program | Documented and sent to the adjuster as a supplement |
